Hot Fix 2.5.2 — Final Stand Stability

Hot Fix 2.5.2 is the current Company of Heroes 3 build as of July 31, 2026, closing a rapid three-day patch cycle after Patch 2.5.0 and Final Stand launched on July 29. Relic shipped Hot Fix 2.5.1 on July 30 with the Browse Games co-op lobby, map and difficulty preview, and missing localization strings — not cloud saves. 2.5.2 followed on July 31 with Steam Cloud uploads for Final Stand Perk progression, AI vehicle and HMG behavior fixes, a Qattara Depression map hole patch, US Forces Demolitions Package unlock corrections, mod isolation for base-game owners, and several crash fixes. If your Steam client shows anything older than 2.5.2, finish the download before queuing ranked or hosting Final Stand co-op.

Launch week timeline

The July 29–31 window was the busiest patch cadence in CoH3’s 2026 anniversary year:

VersionDateFocus
2.5.0July 29, 2026Final Stand standalone, new ranked maps, lobby refresh, anti-blobbing balance
Hot Fix 2.5.1July 30, 2026Browse Games co-op lobby, map/difficulty preview, public/private lobbies, localization strings — see Hot Fix 2.5.1
Hot Fix 2.5.2July 31, 2026Steam Cloud perk saves, AI fixes, Qattara map hole, US Demolitions unlock, mod isolation, crash fixes

Full feature context for the major release lives on Patch 2.5.0. Co-op lobby setup details: Hot Fix 2.5.1. Meta interpretation of anti-blobbing tuning: Balance & Meta. Year roadmap: 2026 Roadmap.

Steam Cloud — Final Stand Perk saves (2.5.2)

Final Stand Perk save data now uploads to Steam Cloud, enabling cross-PC progression for horde meta-unlocks. Before 2.5.2, perk trees and between-run unlocks stayed local only — switching machines or reinstalling risked losing invested progression. Hot Fix 2.5.2 adds reliable cloud handshake for perk data on app 4836540 (Final Stand).

What to do now:

  • Confirm Steam Cloud is enabled in Steam → Properties → General for Final Stand
  • Launch once online after updating to 2.5.2 so perk state uploads
  • If you played offline July 29–30, back up local save folders before first online sync
  • Verify perk unlocks persist in the main menu before starting Endless Mode on a second PC

Cloud perk saves are separate from the co-op lobby work in 2.5.1 — lobby browsing and hosting are covered on the Hot Fix 2.5.1 page.

Map fix — Qattara Depression (2.5.2)

Qattara Depression had a soft map edge hole that could trap enemy units out-of-bounds — infantry and vehicles falling through invisible geometry at certain lane edges, breaking wave pacing and boss phases. Hot Fix 2.5.2 seals the hole so AI pathing respects map boundaries again.

If you saw enemies freeze or disappear mid-wave on Qattara before July 31, update to 2.5.2 and restart the battleground. Other launch battlegrounds were unaffected; Multiplayer Maps lists terrain notes for all five Final Stand arenas.

US Forces Demolitions Package fix (2.5.2)

The US Forces Demolitions Package upgrade failed to unlock Demolish Charges and M6 Anti-Tank mines for Rifleman, Engineer, and Bazooka squads after purchase — a ranked and skirmish regression from the 2.5.0 launch window. Hot Fix 2.5.2 restores the intended loadout unlock chain.

Verify after updating:

  • Purchase Demolitions Package in a test skirmish or ranked unranked lobby
  • Confirm Rifleman, Engineer, and Bazooka squads can equip charges and mines post-upgrade
  • Cross-reference US Forces Builds — timings unchanged; only the unlock bug is fixed

This fix applies to base CoH3 app 1677280 and benefits Final Stand US runs using demolition tools between waves.

AI fixes (2.5.2)

Hot Fix 2.5.2 targets several AI regressions introduced around the Final Stand launch without reverting Patch 2.5.0 anti-blobbing balance:

Final Stand HMG priority

AI HMG teams in Final Stand now prioritize attacking infantry over lane emplacements. Pre-2.5.2, mounted guns sometimes ignored advancing squads to chip static defenses — making certain wave breakpoints feel artificially easy or frustrating depending on emplacement placement.

AI vehicle behavior

  • Vehicles no longer fallback or relocate when first attacked by non-vehicle units — infantry chip damage previously triggered illogical retreats on open maps
  • Kettenkrads idling on map — fixed idle state where recon vehicles stopped responding to combat stimuli in skirmish and campaign

Crash stability

Relic fixed several AI-related crashes and null pointer exceptions tied to vehicle state machines and horde spawn logic. If you crashed mid-wave or during skirmish vs AI before July 31, 2.5.2 is the minimum stable build.

Test AI behavior with How to Beat AI skirmish games. Counter blob play unchanged: Anti-Blob Strategies.

Mod isolation for Final Stand (2.5.2)

Mods applied in other modes no longer affect Final Stand for base game owners who also own the standalone horde app. Pre-2.5.2, workshop or local mod configurations from skirmish or ranked could leak into Final Stand sessions, causing desyncs or unexpected unit behavior. Hot Fix 2.5.2 isolates Final Stand mod scope so horde runs use intended vanilla-or-horde-specific rulesets.

Standalone Final Stand-only owners (app 4836540 without CoH3) were less affected, but updating both apps to 2.5.2 remains best practice if you own the franchise bundle.

Visual fix — US Paratrooper HMG helmets (2.5.2)

US Paratrooper HMG team helmet tinting corrected from incorrect grey/white to the proper faction colors. Cosmetic only — no stat changes — but ranked and Final Stand US players should see consistent visuals post-update.

Co-op lobby — see Hot Fix 2.5.1

Final Stand 2-player co-op browsing, public and private lobby creation, and map/difficulty preview shipped in Hot Fix 2.5.1 (July 30) — not in 2.5.2. Read that page for Browse Games workflow, hosting checklist, and localization fixes.

Co-op checklist after 2.5.2:

  • Both players on 2.5.2 or newer — version mismatch still kicks mid-load
  • Use Browse Games from the Final Stand main menu (added in 2.5.1)
  • Host selects battleground and difficulty before inviting — details on Hot Fix 2.5.1
  • Confirm Steam Cloud perk saves synced if switching PCs — fixed in 2.5.2
  • Practical loadouts: Final Stand Builds and Final Stand Guide

Ranked vs Final Stand — post-hotfix checklist

Ranked multiplayer (app 1677280)

  1. Verify build 2.5.2 in main menu About screen
  2. Re-read Balance & Meta for anti-blobbing ladder shifts — unchanged in 2.5.2
  3. Test US Demolitions Package unlock if that is your main battlegroup path
  4. Drill one opening in Build Order Planner
  5. Study Anti-Blob Strategies before re-entering ladder if you relied on infantry blobs pre-2.5.0

Final Stand horde (app 4836540)

  1. Verify separate app updated to 2.5.2
  2. Confirm Steam Cloud perk saves enabled and synced
  3. Use Browse Games co-op lobby from 2.5.1 — see Hot Fix 2.5.1
  4. Re-test Qattara Depression if you saw out-of-bounds enemy bugs
  5. Track future content via Update 3.0 Preview and 2026 Roadmap

Players owning both apps should update both — shared engine fixes in 2.5.2 apply across the franchise install.

What 2.5.2 did not change

Hot fixes address stability and targeted bugs — not design. These 2.5.0 systems remain unchanged in 2.5.2:

  • Anti-blobbing balance — suppression, mortar splash, flame efficiency vs massed infantry
  • New ranked maps — rotation and map-specific meta from launch week
  • Dare & Destroy battlegroups — four DLC trees from May 2026; see Dare & Destroy
  • Final Stand content scope — 12 waves, five battlegrounds, eight difficulties, Endless Mode

Expect the next major version — Update 3.0 later in 2026 — for new features. Minor hotfixes between 2.5.2 and 3.0 will note here and in Updates hub.
